CURRICULUM FOR YLDP PROGRAM

 

 

1.      Class Room Sessions: There would be eight class room sessions. Each participant is required to attend at least 5 sessions to graduate in this program. Each class room session will have an objective to accomplish in the areas of political. Culture, commerce and charity. The sessions are instructed by qualified mainstream leaders with high profile.

 

2.      Internship: each participant will go through 1 month of practical training facilitated with professional Businesses, Governmental or political organizations, charities and educational institutions.

 

3.      Volunteering: Each participant will agree to serve for minimum 6 events in a year.

 

Note: The maximum number of hours that a selected student is expected to devote for the above activities will be 200 hours for the complete year [inclusive of internship]. The selected students will have to be prepared to spend evening hours for some of the activities.

  

CLASS ROOM SESSIONS (tentative & subject to change):

 

Session I: Introduction to leadership, nature and types of leadership, challenges and opportunities.

 

Session II:  Entrepreneurship in Global economy, strategies and partnerships.

 

Session III: Social, moral and ethical dimensions of leadership.

 

Session IV: Introduction to ALF, Leadership Houston, Center for Houston’s Future, Greater Houston Partnership (GHP), Houston Minority Business Council (HMBC), Houston Arts and Science Museum, Houston International Festival and Houston Chronicle.

 

Session V: Participation in the political process, challenges.

 

Session VI: Outlook: Arts and Culture in 21st Century.

 

Session VII: Conflict Management, Negotiations and problem Resolution skills.

 

Session VIII: Philanthropy – beyond charity and service.

 

Session IX: Feed back on Internship, Volunteering and Open Discussion

 

 

Graduation Ceremony.
